Child Safe Policy

Children have the right to feel safe and be safe from sexual, physical and emotional abuse.

Victorian organisations that provide services to children are required under the Child Safety and Wellbeing Act to ensure that they implement compulsory child safe standards to protect children from harm. Organisations included are those that exercise care, supervision or authority over children, whether as part of its primary function or otherwise.

This section provides detailed information about the Child Safe Standards and how Inner City Aquatic meets these standards.

Inner City Aquatic follows the Swimming Victoria Code of Conduct and Commitment Statement AND the Swimming Australia Safe Sport Framework. We also adopt, and are covered by, Yarra Leisure's Child Safe Policy.

KEEPING SWIMMING SAFE

The safety of children and young people in our sport is paramount. We want swimming to be fun, enjoyable and safe for all.  Everyone in the swimming community have a role to play in ensuring that we keep our sport as safe and enjoyable as possible.

Swimming Australia have developed A Safe Sport Framework (SSF). This confirms the shared responsibility we all have for keeping each other safe in swimming – children and adults alike. The Safe Sport Framework replaces all previous child and member welfare policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct.

The Safe Sport Framework is made up of four parts, supported by a number of resources, FAQ's and checklists.
